This is the official kickoff for **DVM Foal Forecast**, a season?long prediction game where you get to put your horse knowledge to the test and see how well you can forecast our upcoming foals. Below is everything you need to know to play, compete, and have fun along the way.

## What Is DVM Foal Forecast?

DVM Foal Forecast is an interactive prediction game open to everyone. By clicking the link, you’ll be taken to a Google Doc where you can submit your predictions for each mare, including foal sex, color, and other traits. Once your predictions are in, you’re officially part of the game.

## How Predictions and Deadlines Work

Each mare’s predictions will close when that mare reaches **300 days of gestation**. That date is the firm deadline—once a mare hits 300 days, her section of the document is locked and can no longer be edited.

For mares that were already past 300 days when the game launched, those predictions will close sometime before they foal. Once a foal is born, that mare’s predictions are permanently closed, no changes allowed, and no new entries can be added for that foal.

## Scoring, Winners, and Prizes

At the end of foaling season, all points will be totaled across every mare. The participants with the highest total scores will take **first, second, and third place**, with some really cool prizes going to the top three winners. Full scoring details are included directly in the Google Doc so you know exactly how points are earned.

## Leaderboard Updates

A running **leaderboard** will be posted and updated regularly on this page. After every couple of foals hit the ground, we’ll update the standings so you can see who’s currently leading and how close the competition is.

## Joining Late? You Can Still Win

Even if you’re jumping in after a few foals are already on the ground, it is absolutely still worth playing. You can still win by answering the remaining questions correctly. Missing a few early mares does not take you out of the running if your later predictions are strong.

## Use the Videos to Your Advantage

Many of the answers are hiding in plain sight. The videos posted on **TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram** go through each mare in detail—who she is, her background, who she’s in foal to, and other key information. If you want the best chance at getting the most correct answers, watching those videos closely is highly recommended.

## Study Group and Community Access on Patreon

For those who want to go even deeper, there will be a **study group post** inside our Patreon community. This is a place where members can exchange information, theories, and predictions—think of it like studying for a college exam together. Sharing insights and collaborating is encouraged.
